Language Study Update 16/05/2022

I had decided to It’s been very hard to start this whole post everyday habit thing lol BUT I have now decided at the very least, I’ll give a weekly update on Sunday evening and if I have the energy to do more in the week I will\~

The last two weeks have been filled mostly with Mandarin and Japanese. I’m proud to say I’ve built a strong habit to listen to a Mandarin podcast and YT video once every single day!! This is a huge feat for me and I’m really proud. For Japanese, I’ve been re-watching Saiki K. and saving new words with Language Reactor.

Today, I spoke in Mandarin at my Popo’s favourite Chinese (HK) food restaurant with the boss. I’ve been going there for years, but this was my first time. As usual, I was hesitant but I’m so glad I did it. I felt really proud of myself when I saw his face light up and become proud of me also. He’s known me since I was in middle school.

Yesterday I heard Shanghainese for the first time and I was SO SHOCKED because it sounded SO different. Even more different than Hakka or Cantonese. Wild wild, I had no idea! I’m really glad I got to listen thanks to @twirlingpages

-→ This week the plan is to change my language goals a bit and to get better at logging my language studies.
